What is “Eat Clean“ all about ?
These days we are exposed maybe more than ever to a lot of processed food, full of hidden sugars, unhealthy fats, preservatives and other chemical substances which come from the beginning to the end of Food Production Cycle. Intensive Farming, Processing, Preserving, Cooking - all this complex processes have strong influence on the food in our plate and obviously the quality of our lives.
When I say “Eat Clean” I want to bring in focus the source of the food, the way we choose the food, the way we combine it and the way we cook and prepare it. I know that it is very hard, if not impossible for the most of us to find, buy or produce always organic food, but if we give this aspect the deserved importance and attention, we can do much more for our health. It is not about getting the most expensive ingredients, it is about giving more attention to the food we put in our shopping basket - about searching quality food and always choosing “best we can get”.
Food combinations play a very important role and in most cases are responsible for the way of how good and full of energy we feel during the day. Even if we choose good quality food, some combinations are not the best option for our health making the digestion process slower than it should be and affecting how good and energetic we feel.
Of course, in the first place we should find what kind of diet (or what foods) works better for us and fits your needs (For that we might need some help from a diet specialist). And for the long run this diet should become a “way of life”. Probably we can’t keep a strict diet all the time but we can develop good nutritional habits that we can keep for life. There are several cases when we are forced to adopt a more strict diet for a limited period of time but keeping our bodies healthy and full of energy means more than just a diet or a diet per year (or a detox weekend). Now you see that “Eat Clean” refers more to a lifestyle than to a diet. And probably for the most of us, loosing a few kilograms doesn’t help too much if we don’t know what to do next and we return to the old habits ...
We also have to understand that our “modern life” does not require much energy for finding and producing food and most of the times we choose food from refrigerator or order it to a restaurant without putting too much effort in it. In contrast to our ancestors we have to think about our physical activity, try to measure it and pay attention to the food we eat more than ever.
