Juicy Slow Cooked Beef

A tasty recipe with beef. Perfect for a home style dinner with family. Having such a delicious sauce, a good side dish option is quality pasta, but it goes very well with rice, polenta or steamed potatoes.

You can also use this beef to create delicious sandwiches. The meat is very soft and tender and in combination with a quality mustard brings the wrap to another level :)

INGREDIENTS - For two persons

  • Good quality extra virgin olive oil - 2 spoons

  • Organic / Best you can get beef entrecote 2 pieces of arround 250 grams each ( the thickness can be around 2 cm or more )

  • You can use Organic / Best you can get pork entrecote - 2 pieces of arround 250 grams each

  • Organic / Homemade / Best you can get tomato juice :) - 330 ml

  • Organic / Best you can get garlic - 1 garlic

  • Organic / Best you can get onions - 2 small to medium pcs.

  • One medium apple ( of course Bio / Organic if possible :) )

  • Bay leaves - 2 pcs.

  • A pinch of salt

  • Freshly grounded pepper to taste

THE MEAT :

  • Heat well a stone grill pan, or a cast iron grill pan (you can use a traditional grill too)

  • Season the meat slices, put them in the heated grill pan and let them cook about 1 minute each side

  • Move the meat into a heavy pot suitable for oven ( cast iron pots work well )

  • Add the olive oil, the tomato juice, the onions, the unpeeled garlic head cut in two, the apple and complete with water till the liquid level is about 2 cm above the meat

  • Preheat the oven to 180 C

  • Bring the pot to a simmer then transfer it to the oven

  • If you have a pizza stone place it in the oven under the pot (and put it into the oven before the preheating phase)

  • Let the pot in the oven for around 3 hours and periodically check the liquid level (you shouldn’t have to complete it but it is better to check)

  • After cca. 3 hours check the meat (it should be soft and tender) turn of the oven heating and let the meat rest in the warm oven another 1 hour - 1.5 hours

  • Enjoy
